About The Law
-
Bill signed into law, June
6, 2006
-
Provides a legal definition
for the medical condition of "stillbirth" in the State of
Florida.
-
"Stillbirth" means an unintended,
intrauterine
fetal death after a gestational age of not less than 20
completed weeks.
-
Requires the Florida
Department of Health, Office of Vital Statistics, to issue a
"Certificate of Birth Resulting In Stillbirth" (CBRS) at the
request of the parent.
-
The person required to file
the Fetal Death Certificate must notify the parent of a
stillborn child of the availability of the CBRS.
-
CBRS is an optional
document, at the parent(s) request.
